This original calendar contains a series of twelve full page illustrations that depict the labors of months in a feudal society with the castles and towns occupied by the Duc de Berry in the background. Filled with details of the daily lives of people from a variety of social origins, the miniatures are discreet representations of a number of social problems in medieval France. With its exquisite precision in the rendering of the finest detail, it is regarded as a fine example of the International Gothic style in landscape and conventional painting.
